MUSEUM WATCH – THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY SERVICES MUSEUM, SHEFFIELD

Having been turned down for any COVID-19 emergency funding, the The National Emergency Services Museum, Sheffield, has announced that as they only have funds to sustain them until the middle of June 2020 the museum may close for good.
All events at the museum ceased in March 2020 when the UK Government implemented the lockdown to stem the spread of the coronavirus virus. The result of the lockdown is that the foundation has fallen short of its £10,000 target.
The uncertainty as to when such venues can safely be re-opened for visitors, and events, adds further to the financial concerns.
As a result the museum has launched an urgent appeal to raise funds, #SaveNESM
Members of The Fire Brigade Society will recall the warm welcome afford us, and the vast array of exhibits seen, when the museum hosted our Annual General Meeting in February 2019.
