After careful consideration the potential Winter meet in the Wyre Forest on Saturday November 11 2017 has been cancelled due to operational considerations from H&W. The forward plan is to include the Wyre Forest stations in a Midland visit in 2018. The FBS Midlands apologise for this postponement but trust that you will appreciate it is a decision made in conjunction with our potential host.

Auditors Report 2016-2017

Contrary to the statement in Fire Cover 217, application forms for positions in the new FBS organisation will only be available from the Secretaries Assistant and will not be downloadable from the web site. This is because applications are to be 'personalised' and supplied with the Role Descriptions for the position the applicant has shows an interest in.

The Committee has noted that the date for the return of completed applications for Society Posts in the new FBS organisation, as advised in Fire Cover 217, is shorter than planned.

This date was initially set when it was envisaged that the magazine would be published mid-August.

Circumstances outside the direct control of The Society's led to a publication delay, although Fire Cover was published within the period specified by the Editorial Team in Fire Cover 216.

Furthermore, the time between committing Fire Cover 217 to Royal Mail and it dropping on doormats was outside the norm.

As a consequence, please note that the new closing date for applications is 7th October 2017.

Please take this opportunity to support your Society by considering making an application for one of the posts advertised in Fire Cover 217.

Issued on behalf of the President and Committee.

Scottish Visit August 2017

On Saturday 26th August 13 Scottish Area members plus 2 members from England visited stations in the North Service Delivery Area.  After meeting up at the Dundee Asset Resource Centre we then went on to visit Forfar, Arbroath, Balmossie, McAlpine Rad and Blackness Road in Dundee.

The weather was kind to us and the hospitality of all the blue watch crews was a credit to the service and despite finishing early and not getting anything at Perth due to an ongoing fire members were able to see and photograph all the usual makes of appliances and bodywork.
