Book Details- A Sheffield Fireman's Tale

A Sheffield Fireman’s Tale.

Written by Arthur E. Levick, a fireman with Sheffield Fire Brigade from 1963 to 1992, the book is available from the FBS Sales Unit at a price of £9.50 including postage (£8.50 to members). This fascinating book, in Arthur’s own words, takes him from joining the brigade in 1963 up until 1974. Arthur tells of the highs and lows, the comradeship of the people whom he has been lucky to serve with plus the odd ‘not so nice to work with’ person. The book which is in paperback format, size 205 x 145mm, contains 130 pages and 34 photographs.

Compiled by Clive Shearman this DVD contains over 1,800 photographs taken by members during visits in 2010 and 2011 both in the U.K. and overseas. It is available from the Sales Unit at a cost of £15.50 including postage (£14.50 to members)

Book Details- On the Construction of Fire Engines and Apparatus (New November 2011)

Originally written by James Braidwood in 1830 and now re-published, the book is available from the FBS Sales Unit at a price of £16.25 including postage (members £15.25). The book covers the design of manual fire pumps, equipment carried, the supply of water, the training of firemen, means of escape from fire, the causes of fire and the means of preventing them. It is in hardback format, size 220 x 140mm, with 138 pages and contains 33 contemporary illustrations.
